If you can run SOLAR TEAR on your computer, you should be able to run MAGE DUEL! I just don't understand.
This is intentional. When you cast Mirror Image, you have a "Mirror Image" enchantment, not a cloak of shadows enchantment. I've explained this in detail before. I hope you finish this on a computer that can handle it!

Hmm...my advice would be to change your strategy. Silence-resistance is a POWERFUL ability so it's not available until late in the game. I've never had a problem with Alex. Either make yourself UNHITTABLE somehow (his sword is a regular physical attack (best you can do is 20% evasion, I think) or just JACK YOUR ATTACK so you can smash him to pieces even if he does silence you. I think Forcedart Wand (non-elemental, remember as an Evoker Alex is resistant to Fire, Ice, and Shock) + Gauntlet of Power should give you an attack of ~70 at this point. Alex has very good defense, so being able to debuff him or poison him in the first round would be good. And uh, yeah, keep yourself healed.
Here is what I think, off the top of my head, is a foolproof setup for fighting Alex. And if you've won all the fights you should have enough money to buy all this stuff:

I played a few battles with a conjurer (combination with mirror image seemed like a pretty good idea). My cloak of shadows kept unequipping itself though :L.
This is intentional. When you cast Mirror Image, you have a "Mirror Image" enchantment, not a cloak of shadows enchantment. I've explained this in detail before. I hope you finish this on a computer that can handle it!

1. COMPLETELY IMMUNE TO LIGHTNING, FIRE, AND WIND, I.E. EVERYTHING ALEX CAN DO!
2. Able to deal him significant non-elemental damage.
So basically, LET him silence you and then waste his spells doing 15 and 20 damage to you and just gradually wittle him down with Willforce (attacks) while keeping yourself healed.

DD, since I don't think you registered my feedback in the RS! discussion thread, so I am repeating it here. It's not my intention to pick on you, so I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but there is at least one major bug I need to bring to your attention, so here is my mini-review, copy-pasted from that topic:
I am astonished that a FULL GAME with a (even HALF-working) custom battle system and custom menu system could be so atrociously amateurish and completely crippled by lame beginner mistakes. The awful mapping (making the classic beginner mistake of having too much space and everything in straight lines and squares, even outdoor areas that should look natural), buggy, inconsistent, NOT-AT-ALL-FUN battle system, entirely derivative story, wooden characters, unbelievably bad dialogue, and endless spelling, grammar, and capitalization characters (YOU ARE NOT EE CUMMINGS MISTER, YOU KEEP YOUR I's CAPITAL GODAMNIT) made this game basically unplayable even before the mistake that made me quit. After the lengthy, laughable intro, when I first got control and had the girl in my party I halfheartedly tried to break the (extremely inconvenient) custom menu system, and I was easily able to make Shogan the party leader EVEN THOUGH SHOGAN WAS NOT IN THE PARTY AND IN FACT WAS A CHARACTER I HAD NOT EVEN MET YET!

Okay, you seem not to understand a basic principle, man, so let me try to explain this:
A suggestion is JUST a suggestion, not a threat, insult, promise, imperative or command. In no way are you ever beholden to a suggestion or obligated to act on one. Obviously, it's your game, and you're making it for you. I was giving you a suggestion that I thought would make the game more fun to play, not just for me, but for everyone. But no one, least of all me, is going to lynch you if you don't take the advice.

By the way, the menu bug issue is real, and is something you definitely need to fix. I don't know if you've addressed it at all.
